The Geopark in eastern Gipuzkoa covers a spectacular stretch of cliffs and offers a rich array of geological and cultural heritage and landscape. The area formed by Zumaia, Deba and Mutriku is part of the European Geoparks Network. The Basque Coast Geopark is a treasure that has built up with the passage of time and has been sculpted by the sea. Millions of years of history are written in its layers of rock. The sequence of layers in this structure known as a flysch forms a record of around 60 million years. In it, you can see the marks left by major events in Earth\u2019s history, making it an international reference for geological time.<\/p>\n
